Nurse Practitioners and Paramedic Practitioners have specialist skills and are usually prescribers. They have access to a doctor to support them in their role should it be necessary.

These clinicians do not see women with pregnancy-related illness or children under two years (with the exception of specific minor illness such as conjunctivitis or nappy rash). These groups of patients are seen by doctors. 

Our practice nurses are available by appointment and for telephone advice each weekday. They are happy to give advice on family planning and health education.

The district nursing service is a team of nurses providing 24-hour delivery of care to our patients. They care for patients in their own homes, residential and nursing homes and local day care centres. All housebound patients and patients recently discharged from hospital can be referred to this service.

Our community midwives hold antenatal clinics and parent craft classes. They attend to mothers and babies in their own homes for up to four weeks after delivery.

The main role of a Phlebotomist is to take blood from a patient (this is also known as venepuncture). Our Phlebotomists also perform some clinical tasks (such as taking blood pressure). Whilst these staff do not hold a clinical registration, they have received appropriate training and have been certified as competent by a registered clinician. 

They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.

Our Management Partner is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. She supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.

Historically called Receptionists or Secretaries, our Medical Administrators provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. We call our reception staff Medical Administrators, because of the complex role they now occupy. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with financial claims, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits.
