We have unsurprisingly been seeing an increased number of questions regarding the Covid Vaccine.
We are working with over 20 other central Plymouth GP Practices to deliver the vaccine at Plymouth Pavilions as well as some directly to care homes.
We have already successfully helped run some clinics at The Pavilions and we hope there will be others soon.
These vaccines are not like the flu vaccines that come fully prepared for use. There are complexities around transport and storage, their preparation and the observation time required after receiving the jab. As such larger centres with more space and working at scale is currently more effective, that may change over time with different vaccines becoming available. There is also a supply going to the Hospital so some people may get invited to go there.
Unfortunately, we do not know when we will get more vaccines, how many or at what frequency. It is likely this will continue to be small batches at short notice when supplies become available. However this is central government strategy that we are not party to.
We understand many people are eager to be vaccinated but kindly request that patients do not contact the surgery to book or enquire about the vaccination. We will be in contact directly with patients who are eligible, to arrange dates as soon as they have been confirmed. Please see end for the order that we are working through people as centrally directed, but please note across Plymouth there are many thousands in each category.
It will take time to get to everyone in each group, please rest assured that you will be on the list and you will get an invite.
Please do be aware you may get a call inviting you quickly if we get a delivery. If you are unable to make a clinic at short notice you will remain on the list until we get another delivery.

2 All those 80 years of age and over Frontline health and social care workers

6 All individuals aged 16 years to 64 years with underlying health conditions which put them at higher risk of serious disease and mortality
7 All those 60 years of age and over

A new online calculator predicts your likely position in the queue after asking a series of questions.
The omni calculator asks for your age, whether you live or work in a care home, are pregnant or plan to be in the next three months and if you're a frontline health or social worker, classes as extremely vulnerable or have an underlying health condition.
Once answered, it will give an estimate on how many people are ahead of you in the queue.
