Appointments

We run all our surgeries by an appointment only system. Appointments can be booked by telephoning the surgery in advance or on the day you wish to be seen.

We try to make sure you see the doctor of your choice but if they are not available we may ask if you would be happy to see another doctor. Some of our doctors work only part time here at the surgery, therefore it may be difficult to see them on the day you wish to be seen. We would kindly ask for your consideration in this matter.

A full list of each GP's working hours can be found here.

How to Book

  • By Phone – you can call the practice on 01273 685588 between 8am and 6.30pm, one of our receptionist will help you book the right appointment for your medical needs.

  • Online – if you have set up a patient access account there are telephone appointments available online to book using this method, click here to access online services. If you do not currently have an online account, please contact the reception team who would be happy to help you set this up.

Currently due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, all appointments with the Doctors are Telephone Triage or Video Consultation appointments. Your Doctor will arrange a face to face consultation if they feel it is clinically necessary. Please DO let reception know if you think your medical issue may be something that would require a face to face consultation, this information can be relayed to the Doctor prior to your telephone consultation.

Types of Appointments

ROUTINE APPOINTMENTS - These can be booked in advance at a convenient time for you, either with your registered GP or a GP of your choosing.

URGENT APPOINTMENTS – These are available daily for medical emergencies. If you need to see a GP for an urgent issue you must phone the surgery either at 8am for a morning appointment or at 1.30pm for an afternoon appointment. These appointments are limited so it is important to ring as close to these times as possible. Whenever possible you will be offered an appointment with your own doctor the same day, but on occasions you will be seen by or speak to the duty doctor.

TELEPHONE AND VIDEO APPONTMENTS - Our practice offers telephone or video consultations if you do not need to be physically examined. If you would like to speak to a doctor for advice please ask a receptionist who can book you in for the next available telephone or video consultation.

Surgery Consultation Times

Routine consultation slots are 15 minutes and urgent consultations are 10 minutes.

We will try to keep appointment times as much as possible, but inevitably some patients require more time than others. If you are kept waiting, please be patient. On the next occasion it may be you who requires more of the Drs' time.

If you find it difficult to attend a GP appointment within our normal clinic times speak to one of our receptionists about booking an appointment through the Extended Hours Service - A service to make GP and Nurse appointments at evenings and weekends. See the Extended Hours Service page for details.

To help keep the surgery running smoothly, please remember the following:

  • Please be punctual for your appointment.
  • Please let us know if you cannot keep your appointment.
  • Please do not expect the doctor to "squeeze in" other members of your family at the same time as this results in less attention being given to each person.

Digital Photographs

Your GP may ask you to send a photograph to help diagnose your condition when they hold a telephone consultation with you.

A receptionist may ask you if you are happy to supply photographs to support a consultation. If you are happy to do so, they will offer to either send you a text message with a link to attach photos or provide you with the practice email address.

Please note any digital image submitted as part of a consultation will be stored within your medical record. We can upload .jPeg files or PDFs. Please do not send .HEIC files as our computers cannot read them.

Video Consultations available

Consultations with a GP or Practice Nurse can now be held by video. This service is available to anyone who has a mobile phone, computer or users of Patient Online Access Services. Current users can telephone us and request a video consultation and reception will give you details of how your appointment will work.

Telephone Consultations

The Practice offers patients telephone consultations if you have a problem that doesn't necessarily have to be seen by a GP face to face at the Practice. Telephone consultations can also be useful for patients who find it difficult to get to the Practice. The receptionists will offer this option to you when you phone for an appointment.

Cancellations

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for that appointment slot to become available to someone else. You can cancel your appointment by phone or using your patient access app.
