New Patient Appointment
Sometimes it can take a bit of time for your medical records to arrive at the practice. This important appointment ensures that we have all the essential information about you and your health so we can continue any on-going treatments or medications you may need.
If you have recently registered at the Practice please be sure to speak to reception about booking a new patient appointment with your GP. If necessary your GP will refer you to have a health check with the nurse.
Antenatal/Postnatal Clinic
You can come and see your GP anytime during your pregnancy if you have questions, need advice or treatment. You will also be supported by the community midwives team. Once you have given birth it is important to get your baby registered with the practice and book in for a 6-8 week postnatal check for you and baby. This can be booked at any time by ringing main reception. Where ever possible, we try to arrange a mum and baby’s first postnatal check appointment at the same time as their first immunisation appointment.

Child Immunisations
This clinic is run by our Nurse Natalie Geraghty. Speak to reception for further details on booking in your child immunisations.

Asthma
If you are a patient who has asthma, you will be invited annually to come to the practice for an asthma review with the nurse. However you can phone us at any time to book an appointment with a GP or Nurse to discuss your condition or to review your medication.

Diabetic Clinic
If you are a Diabetic patient you will receive a yearly invite for an appointment to monitor your condition. This will be an appointment with a nurse who will run tests and checks related to your condition, then followed up with and appointment with either Dr Martin, Dr Herford or Dr Hooley. However you can phone us at any time to book an appointment with a GP or Nurse to discuss your condition or to review your medication.

Family Planning
We run a family planning and sexual health clinic on:
Wednesdays with Dr Gersten from 3:30pm - 6:00pm
These appointments can be booked with main reception

Contraception
Our GPs offer special advice to anyone with contraceptive problems - in total confidence.
If you are taking oral contraception you will need to have Pill Check appointment with the nurse every 6 months, this can be booked through reception.
We do offer coil fittings at the practice, this is done as part of our Family Planning clinics held on Wednesday afternoons. Speak to reception to arrange an initial telephone discussion with our family planning GP Dr Gersten.

Cervical Smears
Women are invited to have cervical smears every 3 years if they are aged between 25-49 and every 5 years if aged 50–64. Recall letters for smears are sent centrally by the NHS and by the Practice.
Smear appointments can be booked with the practice nurse through reception.

Annual Reviews / NHS Health Checks
If you have certain medical conditions such as Asthma, Diabetes, Heart Disease, Thyroid function issues etc. We will send you a letter yearly to invite you to have an annual review of your condition. This appointment will be with a nurse in the form of a general heath check. When you receive your review invite please contact reception to book your appointment.
The NHS Health Check is a health check-up for adults in England aged 40 to 74. It is designed to spot early signs of stroke, kidney disease, heart disease, type 2 diabetes or dementia. As we get older, we have a higher risk of developing one of these conditions, having an NHS Health Check helps find a way to lower this risk. This appointment can be booked with a nurse through main reception.

Nurse Practitioner Appointments / Minor Illnesses
Sometimes it maybe that it is not necessary to discuss a medical issue with a GP and our Nurse Practitioner may be able to help you if you have
- a sore throat or infection,
- a chest infection or difficulty breathing (Children from age 3+ can be assessed),
- all skin problems such as chickenpox, measles, eczema or dermatitis (Children from age 5+ can be assessed),
- ear problems (Children from age 3+ can be assessed),
- UTIs,
- vomiting,
- diarrhoea,
- musculoskeletal pain in limbs
- vaginal problems.
Physiotherapist
We have two First Contact Physiotherapists based at the surgery on Tuesday 9am till 1pm (Sophie) and Wednesday 8.30am till 12.30pm (Vicky). These appointments can be booked through main reception this is a list of medical issues they can support with;
- All soft tissue injuries, sprains, strains or sports injuries.
- Arthritis – any joints.
- Possible problems with muscles, ligaments, tendons or bone, eg. Tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, ankle sprains.
- Spinal pain including lower back pain, mid back pain and neck pain.
- Spinal related pain in arms or legs, including nerve symptoms, eg pins and needles or numbness.
- Changes to walking.
- Post-orthopaedic surgery.
Smoking Cessation Clinic
