Open surgery

Open surgery runs every week day from 9am.  Patients can check in from 8am.  Patients MUST be checked in by 10am otherwise they will be asked to return the following day.

Pre bookable clinics

The practice has a selection of pre bookable face to face or telephone appointments available every afternoon. 

Women’s Health

The practice provides maternity services and full family planning services including fitting of coils (IUD’s/IUS) and implants.

Women aged 25-49 years should have a cervical smear test every 3 years.  Women aged 50-64 years should have a cervical smear test every 5 years. A reminder will be sent when the next smear is due.

The National Breast screening programme is run locally from Springwell House in Ardmillan Terrace for women aged 50 – 64yrs.

Child Vaccination

Children registered at Hermitage Medical Practice will be called to attend for their childs immunisation appointment at the immunisation clinic held at Morningside Medical Practice each Thursday.  Invitation letters will be sent for all appointments. Minor Surgery

Certain procedures such as removal of skin lumps and joint injections can be performed by your doctor, often with the assistance of the practice nurse. Please ask your doctor for details.

Travel Vaccinations

The surgery no longer provided travel vaccinations.

Clinicians do not provide advice to patients if they are outside the UK. They can obtain medical advice locally, and should arrange travel insurance to cover any costs involved in this.  This would  also  cover supplying more than 3 months of medication.

Non-NHS Services

The NHS provides most health care and health services for free to UK residents, but there are some exceptions.  Please see the information sheets attached detailing what you may be charged for and a list of our fees.

Asthma Review

We would like to offer you your annual asthma review. As part of this we would be grateful if you could complete the asthma questionnaire below and return it to us. 

Once this is completed it will be reviewed, alongside your medical notes and prescriptions relating to your asthma, by our Practice Nurse or Pharmacist team.

They may contact you by telephone to discuss your asthma or to arrange a face to face appointment in the surgery. If your asthma is well controlled and no changes to your management are required you may receive a text message to that effect.

A vital part of your asthma care is to ensure that you have an up to date asthma management plan so we will post one to you if you do not have one already.

We recognise that not all of our patients will have access to the internet so if this is the case for you please could you let us know and we can arrange a telephone review or an appointment in the surgery for you.
