Clinics & Services

The service at the Practice covers all general medical services including the following:-

Ante-natal Clinics

Are held on Fridays with the community midwife – patients are seen in the clinic by appointment only.

Child Health and Immunisations

The Practice offers a full Child Health Service run by Dr Hannah Goodman-Bowen.  All medical checks and hearing tests are arranged by appointment at the surgery.

All the doctors and nurses at Almondbury Surgery advise that children are best protected by being fully immunised.  Completing full immunisation is very important – immunisation at the Practice is performed by the Practice Nurses.

If you have any specific questions about your child, please feel free to ask your health visitor, the doctor or a practice nurse.

Family Planning/Women's Health

The full range of contraceptive services are available including the contraceptive pill, injection, implant, IUD and Mirena coil, along with emergency contraceptive.

We recommend that all eligible women aged between 25 and 65 years have cervical cytology screening every 3 to 5 years.  The Screening Department of West Yorkshire Central Services Agency (WYCSA) send invitations for call/recall and send cytology results to our patients on behalf of the Practice - cervical cytology at the Practice is usually performed by the Practice Nurses.

Minor Surgery

This includes joint injections, and minor surgical procedures under local anaesthetic e.g removal of skin lesions. We have a fully equipped treatment room – minor surgery procedures at the Practice are performed by the doctors.

Our practice nurses offer a comprehensive travel advice and immunisation service. If you would like advice on travel vaccinations please collect a travel pack from reception.
