Repeat Prescriptions

If you are on long-term medication you can obtain a repeat prescription by:
- Ordering online via the link at the top of this page.
- Marking the items you require on your printed list of medication and bringing it to surgery.
- Ringing the surgery after 1pm.
We will have your new prescription ready for collection from the surgery or the pharmacy of your choice within 48 hours (2 working days).
If you require a prescription urgently, please let the receptionist know and we will do our best to arrange this for you. Please note this can only be done in cases of true emergencies eg running out of insulin/inhalers for example.
Medication Reviews
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see our clinical pharmacist at least once a year for review. A notification should appear on your repeat slip - please do not ignore these reminders!
Acute Medication Requests
Anything not on your repeat list will be classed as an acute prescription. All acute requests are considered carefully by the doctor and will not automatically be given. These requests may take longer than 48 hours.
Medication Prescribed by the Hospital or other Health Care Professional
We are notified by letter of any changes to your medication list. Please be aware that these letters can take time to arrive and the GP will not be able to do a prescription safely until the information arrives. Some medication can only be prescribed by the hospital - particularly new or very specialist drugs.
