Due to the pandemic, 14,000 undiagnosed men haven’t started urgent prostate cancer treatment. The earlier prostate cancer is caught the easier it is to cure. Finding these men is crucial to save lives.
Prostate Cancer UK is working in partnership with the NHS to find more than 14,000 men in the UK who need treatment for prostate cancer but have not yet come forward for a diagnosis.

Do you need your GP?
Before ringing your GP practice, make sure your call is necessary! Every phone call you make to the surgery can hold up the line! Please make sure all enquiries are brief. Throughout the pandemic we have faced many challenges, this still continues on to today... but if we all do our part, we can prioritise!

- 1 in 4 lesbian, gay and bisexual people are not out to any health professionals. (NHS Wirral, 2012)
- Lesbian, gay and bisexual patients are twice as likely to report they have no trust or confidence in their GP. (National GP Survey 2012)
- 3 in 4 trans people have been called the wrong name or pronoun by a health professional (J. McNeil, 2012)
- Over half of trans people feel they need to pass as non-trans to be accepted by health professionals (J. McNeil, 2012)
- If LGBT people have experienced discrimination at any point, their fear of further discrimination will often prevent them from speaking out. (D.Herda 2013)
Letter from the South Ribble ambulance service
On the week commencing the 27th September, our staff came into the surgery to find a lovely present from the South Ribble Ambulance Service! On Wednesday 11th August, we had a very special visitor in the surgery; MP Katherine Fletcher. Katherine sat with the team to thank everyone for their hard-work and spirit throughout the pandemic. She also sat and listened to any concerns the staff had and took them on-board. It truly was a pleasure!

Veterans
We are conscious that some patients registered with us may be affected by current events in the world. New Longton Surgery is accredited by the Royal College of General Practitioners as one which specialises in the care of military veterans and their families. All the team have been trained in the care of military veterans and their families. If recent events have affected you and you wish to seek help, please come forward.
