Shingles - new eligibility 

You may have seen in the media that patients aged 60+ will be able to have the shingles vaccination. Some patients may also be eligible from the age of 50.

However, patients will become eligible in stages over the next 10 years not simply when they turn 60 now. The practice runs a proactive call system to invite patients when they become eligible:

For those patients who are immunosuppressed: 

We will begin to call you shortly and you are eligible from your 50th birthday. Some patients who have already had two doses of the vaccine may not need more.

For those patients who are not immunosuppressed:

1 September 2023 to 31 August 2028Those who reach age 65 or 70 years during this period should be called in on or after their 65th or 70th birthday 
1 September 2028 to 31 August 2033Those who reach age 60 or 65 years during this period should be called in on or after their 60th or 65th birthday 
1 September 2033 onwardsThose turning 60 years of age should be called in on or after their 60th birthday
