FREE CONTRACEPTION SCHEME FOR PATIENTS AGED BETWEEN 17 AND 25

You can get free contraception if you are:

  • A woman or person with a uterus
  • Aged between 17 and 25
  • Living in Ireland

What contraception costs are free for people aged between 17 and 25?

  • Any GP appointments about your contraception options
  • Contraception prescriptions from your doctor (at participating pharmacies)
  • Emergency contraception (the morning-after-pill)
  • Fitting, removal and check-ups of long-acting reversible contraception (LARCs)
  • Other types of contraception such as contraceptive injections, implants, IUS and IUDs (coils), the contraceptive patch and contraceptive ring
  • Prescriptions for combined oral contraception (the daily pill)

Chronic Disease Management Program

The Structured Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Program aims to prevent and manage patient chronic diseases using a population-approach. 

This program is for patients who have a medical card or GP visit card and have a diagnosis of one or more of the listed conditions below.

  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Asthma
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • Cardiovascular disease, including heart failure, heart attack (angina), stroke and irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation)

What patients qualify under  the program free of charge?

Our Medical or GP cards patients aged 18yrs and over, determined by age, qualify for the program. 

What is included free of charge?

Your appointment will include:

  • Bloods
  • ECG (subject to medical condition)
  • Blood Pressure check
  • Weight & height check
  • Pulse check
  • Waist circumference
  • Dietary advise

General information

  • We would ask that you do not attend the surgery without having phoned in advance. Please do not attend the surgery if you have any Covid symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath or flu like illness) .

  • We can arrange for you to be tested for Covid-19 if you meet the criteria set out by public health. This can ONLY be done over the phone. You will get your test results by text or phone directly from the testing service.  

  • In an attempt to reduce footfall into the clinic repeat prescription requests can now be emailed to the surgery - please see the Prescriptions section of the website for more details.

  • We expect a high volume of calls and ask for your patience at this challenging time. 

  • We remain open and available to our patients, though not currently in the traditional way. Please contact us with your medical concerns as early as possible in the course of your illness in order to ensure the best treatment.

  • Please do not postpone / delay in contacting us as certain symptoms, such as chest pain, need to be dealt with as soon as possible.
