Care Quality Commission

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) are the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England.

The CQC make sure health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care and encourage them to improve.

They monitor, inspect and regulate services to make sure they meet fundamental standards of quality and safety and publish what is found, including performance ratings to help people choose care.

Our GP Practice had a CQC inspection in February 2016 and was awarded an 'Outstanding' rating.

In February 2018, we have been reinspected and reaccredited with an overall 'Outstanding' rating.  Please see report.

20 April 2018 - Visit from Professor Steve Field, Chief Inspector of General Practice, Care Quality Commission

In February 2016 we were rated as an ‘Outstanding’ practice by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in three out of five assessment areas. We are delighted to confirm that we were reassessed in February 2018 and have been rated as ‘Outstanding’ in four out of five assessment areas, with an overall rating of Outstanding. We are the first GP Practice in the North of England to be reassessed as Outstanding, and the only practice in England to have improved our outstanding rating.

Professor Steve Field, CQC, Chief Inspector of General Practice, said “The service had a very clear vision and strong leadership that helped drive high quality care and treatment. The whole practice team fostered a culture of ‘can do’ with patient care and customer satisfaction central to everything it did.
I cannot praise this practice too highly. It clearly benefits from strong leadership who have a vision and strategy to deliver patient-centred care. All of the staff at Marple Cottage should be very proud of the service they are providing. Other providers should look to them as an example of how to provide great high quality care.”
