Young Carers - what we can do for you

Young Carers Information

What the Bush Doctors can do for you

    • Order your repeat prescriptions over the telephone
    • If your order prescriptions before 12pm you will be able to collect them on the same day
    • Allow you to pre-book all morning appointments to see a GP

You must advise the reception that you are a Carer when wishing to take advantage of any of these benefits.

As well as financial help, you may need more practical help to look after someone. This could be someone to sit with the person you care for while you go out for an hour, equipment to help you to lift the person you care for, information about local carers groups or arranging a break for yourself so that you can have a rest.

As a young carer you are entitled to get help and support from your council. The council will not be looking to stop from you from supporting the person you look after, nor to separate you from that person. They will ask you what sort of support you would like to make your life and your caring role easier.

You can contact the council direct. Or, if you prefer, you can ask someone you know to contact them for you - maybe a friend or relative, a teacher, or your family doctor. Don't be afraid to ask - it is important to get the help you are entitled to.
