Welcome to St George's Medical Practice Website

practice

St. George's Medical practice is a teaching and training general practice in central West Bridgford,

Nottingham.  The doctors, nurses and staff aim to offer the highest standard of patient-centred healthcare.

We are here to help when you are ill, and run numerous clinics for patients with long term conditions

(chronic diseases). We also offer a wide variety of other medical services such as antenatal and postnatal

care, minor surgery, contraception, childhood vaccinations and NHS health checks.

In addition to information you may wish to know about the practice, you will also find other health-related

information on our website.

Covid and Flu Vaccinations

This year we have been offering both the flu and covid vaccinations to eligible patients at the practice.  We have now completed all our Covid clinics though and so will only be offering flu vaccination at the surgery for the rest of this season.

Flu Vaccination

If you are eligible and would like a flu vaccination and have not yet received one, please call the surgery after 10.30am to book an appointment. We have various appointment times available throughout the week days.

There will be no 'drop-in' sessions and all vaccinations will need to be by appointment only.

If you do not wish to receive the vaccination this year, please contact us to let us know.

Covid Vaccination

If you are eligible and wish to have a Covid vaccination, you can book an appointment at a local service via the national booking systems.

National Booking Line: 119    Calls to 119 are free from mobiles and landlines.  119 provides support in 200 languages.

Help Us to Help You!

We are offering a significant number of appointments each week

Approximately:  1000 Doctors appointments

550 Nurse, Healthcare Assistant or Phlebotomy appointments

60 + First Contact Physio or Pharmacist appointments

Plus appointments with our Social Prescriber and appointments available in the local extended access clinics.

Despite this, we are still finding that our appointments list are becoming full most days.

Ways that you can help

There are some things that you can do to help reduce the pressure on the surgery, which will in turn improve the service you can receive when you do need us.

  1.       If you are ordering repeat prescriptions, please try to order online via the NHS App or Systmonline. You can register to use the NHS App from your own home and do not need to attend the surgery.  If you download the App onto your phone or tablet it will then take you through a process to authenticate your identity.  Once this is complete you will be able to send through a request for a repeat prescription via the app at any time of day.  The App is easy to use and much safer and easier for the practice to process as the requests are directly linked to your record.  It also reduces the number of telephone calls to the practice, helping those that need to get through for urgent matters.
  2.       There are many short-term illnesses that either do not require treatment or can be treated with a medication that is available to buy over the counter. Please visit your pharmacist for help and advice.  You do not need to make an appointment to speak to the pharmacist, you can just drop in anytime.  For a list of all the things that your local pharmacist can help with please see link below.  Please also see our self-help page via the link in the blue section at the bottom of this page, for more details on common ailments, which has links to more information.
