travelTravel Vaccinations

If you're planning to travel outside the UK, you may need to be vaccinated against some of the serious diseases found in other parts of the world.

Vaccinations are available to protect you against infections such as Yellow fever, Typhoid and Hepatitis A

You can find out which vaccinations are necessary or recommended for the areas you'll be visiting by clicking on the appropriate link below

You should get advice at least eight weeks before you're due to travel, as some jabs need to be given well in advance.

Whether you need any jabs will depend on:

  • the country you're travelling to
  • whether you have any medical conditions
  • whether you're taking any medication

Speak to your GP before having any vaccinations if:

  • you're pregnant
  • you think you might be pregnant
  • you're breastfeeding

Not all travel vaccinations are free and some will be prescribed on a private prescription due to them not being provided on the NHS, you can see which vaccinations will incur a charge here; http://www.nhs.uk/chq/Pages/1071.aspx?CategoryID=67&SubCategoryID=152
