Patients can order prescriptions online after signing up for online services.

Repeat Prescriptions

If you require a repeat prescription please return the right hand side of your most recent prescription with the items you require clearly marked. If you have lost this please fill in one of the slips provided in the entrance the main reception.

Alternatively your prescription can be requested by post.

Medication Reviews

If you have not required medication for some time the doctor may require you to make an appointment before prescribing the medication. Also after a number of repeat prescriptions you will be asked to book a medication review (telephone appointment), which would be either with a prescribing pharmacist, GP or advanced Nurse Practitioner.

Repeat Prescribing

It is possible, where medication has not been changed for sometime and if both doctor and pharmacist agree between medication reviews, that repeat prescriptions can be automatically delivered to the pharmacy. You would then only have to call in and pick up your medication from the pharmacy itself. This would mean you would not have to contact the surgery to ask for the repeat prescription to be prepared.

Please allow two full working days for prescriptions to be processed and ready for collection and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account.

Repeat Prescription Requests

Please allow 48 hours, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays, for your request to be processed. Any problems please telephone the surgery.

Please note: It is the responsibility of the patient to inform their chosen pharmacy that there is a prescription to be collected from us.

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines.  Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.

NHS charges

  • Prescription (per item): £9.00
  • 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £104.00
  • 3-month PPC: £29.10

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 15 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.

There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website
