CHAPERONES - INFORMATION FOR PATIENTS

We are committed to providing a safe, comfortable environment where patients and staff can be confident that best practice is being followed at all times and the safety of everyone is of paramount importance. 

ALL PATIENTS ARE ENTITLED TO HAVE A CHAPERONE

A chaperone acts as a witness for a patient and staff during a medical consultation, examination or procedure where they feel one is required.

If you wish to have a chaperone, please do not hesitate to ask the doctor or healthcare practitioner. The chaperone may be a family member or friend.

On occasion a formal chaperone maybe present i.e. a trained, enhanced DBS checked senior member of staff.

It is practice policy that doctors and healthcare practitioners should always offer a chaperone for an intimate examination. They can also be requested for certain consultations and procedures in accordance with the detailed practice policy.

Where it is not possible to arrange a chaperone, it may be necessary to reschedule your appointment.

You may request to see a full copy of the Practice Chaperone Policy or ask the Reception staff to see the Senior Manager on duty if you have any questions.
