Cervical Smears
Cytology clinics are run by the practice nurses or a female General Practitioner.
A cervical screening test (smear test) is a method of preventing cervical cancer by detecting abnormal cells in the cervix (lower part of the womb).
Cervical screening is not a test for cancer, but it is a test to check the health of the cervix. Most women's test results show that everything is normal. But for one in 20 women, the test will show some changes in the cells of the cervix.
We recommend 3 yearly checks for ladies aged between 25-50 years and 5 yearly checks for ladies aged between 50-65 years. Reminders and results are sent out by the Primary Care Support Services in Lewes.

Is provided jointly by your own designated doctor, the Midwife and the Health Visitor.

Development screening 6 week checks are undertaken by all the doctors for babies and for older children. The practice follows local and national guidelines.
Child Immunisations
It is very important for all children to be fully immunised against diseases common in childhood. Immunisation sessions are held every Thursday afternoon at both Albert Road and Sidley Surgery.

A full range of vaccinations and immunisations including those needed for foreign travel are available.Holiday vaccination clinics are held at Albert Road on a Monday afternoon and at Sidley Surgery on a Wednesday afternoon.Kindly complete the holiday form and return it to the surgery for the practice nurse to ascertain what Travel Vaccinations are required. Contact the surgery after 7 days to enquire if any vaccinations are needed. Please be aware there are fees incurred for this service.

These clinics are especially for patients over 65 years of age, and those who are in the 'at risk' group (asthma, kidney, diabetes, heart, carers & pregnant ladies)
Please note it is important to book an appointment. This will be possible from September onwards.
If you are housebound and therefore do not attend the surgery please telephone us and request a domicilary visit.

Appointments for these clinics are by doctor referral and are by appointment only. These are extremely busy clinics and may endure a waiting time frame. Times and days may vary.

We hold clinics for Asthma, Diabetic, COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary disease), CVD (Cardiovascular disease), BARCS (Bexhill and Rother Cardiac Study), Anticoagulation, Hypertension, Smoking Cessation and Diet Clinics which are run by the practice nurses and Health Care Assistants. Times and days may vary. Please enquire at reception.
Community Services
Together with other outside Health Teams, we also hold clinics for Action for Change (Alcohol related problems), Health in Mind (Mental health problems), Substance Misuse (Drug related problems).
Community Matrons and District nurses also operate alongside the doctors' .
