Online Appointments - Patient Access
How to book online appointments
We now offer patients 16 years old and over the use of a secure website on the internet to book appointments.
How do I register for Patient Access?
You must be a fully registered patient at Newton Heath Health Centre and you will need a letter from us containing personalised access codes. To get this letter you need to come to the GP reception to ask for Patient Access and you will be given an application form to fill in. You will also need to show 2 forms of ID - photo ID (i.e. passport/driving license) and proof of address (bank statement, utility bill etc. dated within the last three months). The reception staff will subsequently provide you with your personalised registration information.
How do I get onto Patient Access?
You can access this via the link below or by typing it into your internet web browser (http://www.patient.co.uk/patient-access). The first time you access the site you will be asked to create an account (details of how to do this are in the patient registration letter which also contains your personalised access codes).
All data contained within Patient Access is protected using the highest standard internet security so you can be sure all your personal information is safe and secure.
Urgent Appointments
Patients who request to see a doctor the same day will have to speak to a doctor first to check on your symptoms. You will be asked by the receptionist to leave a contact numberand brief details and then be advised by the receptionist when a doctor will call you back to discuss your problem.
The doctor will decide if you need to be seen that day or if it will wait for the next available appointment.
We would like to remind patients that same day appointments are for urgent medical problems only.
Patients will not be seen for the following:-
- Repeat Prescriptions
- Sick Notes
- Long Standing Conditions
- Test Results (unless instructed by GP)
A MEDICALLY URGENT request takes priority over your other commitments, such as work or school.
We would ask that all requests are made before 10:30.
Routine Appointments
Ten minutes is not a great deal of time in which to conduct a consultation with all that it entails, and we suggest the following:
- Please make separate appointment for each member of your family
- Avoid bringing a list of problems, as one appointment is really only meant to address one complaint, although we may be prepared to discuss a second, minor complaint in a ten minute appointment, at our discretion.
- Please don't expect clinicians to complete forms (e.g. benefit claims, holiday cancellation forms etc.) during an appointment. These should be left at reception for collection another day (there may be a charge for this work.
Cancellations
If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the appointment to someone else.
