HOW TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT
Appointments can be made by telephoning or calling in at reception, between the hours of 8.00am and 6.00pm, Monday to Friday.
Pre-bookable appointments are available a few weeks in advance. It is usually possible to get an appointment with a named doctor or nurse within 7 working days and any doctor within 48 hours.
EMERGENCY APPOINTMENTS
If you feel that you have a problem which needs to be dealt with the same day please ring the surgery and inform the receptionist that you wish to be seen the same day. We have Duty doctors available each day who are responsible for dealing with home visits, emergency appointments (where there are no bookable appointments left) and advice over the telephone. Please use this service responsibly.
EVENING SURGERIES
We hold 1 evening surgery per week from 5.30pm to 7pm. These appointments are intended for patients who are unable to attend during the day.
It is important to note that these appointments are not for emergencies and the Out of Hours Service will operate as normal. The surgery telephone number will continue to be diverted to NHS24 at 6pm every evening.
TELEPHONE CONSULTATIONS
Need to speak to the clinician but don’t necessarily need to “see” the clinician? You can book a telephone consultation. We have bookable telephone appointments available on most days but you may need to wait a few days if you wish a particular clinician.
Telephone Review appointments are useful if you don’t actually need to see the clinician in person, e.g. for follow-up appointments to discuss test results or check how you are tolerating new medicines, etc. Your clinician may suggest a telephone consultation for your next appointment. These appointments can be booked in the usual way. If you are unsure whether a telephone appointment would be suitable for you, we would be happy to advise.
NHS "NEAR ME" VIDEO CONSULTATIONS
We are in the process of implementing systems to provide video consultations. Please check back for further details..........
APPOINTMENT MONITORING & AVAILABILITY STANDARDS
In Tweeddale, we monitor the availability of our appointments on a weekly basis. We use a method approved by the Royal College of General Practitioners which is known as the “3rd available appointment” – this is a recognised international standard measure.
We welcome comments/feedback on our availability standards. Comments/suggestion forms are available at our practice reception or you can submit your feedback on this website via the Contact Us page.
