Patients Guildelines for Flu Clinic 2020

This information is to help you understand the difference in how we will run flu clinics safely this year, pleas read this so you know what to expect.

• All flu jabs will be given on appointment only. Patients must make an appointment and there will be no walk in style clinics this year.

• Please arrive at your appointment time. You will not be seen early or late, and may be asked to rebook.

• Please attend on your own, unless you need a family member or carer to assist you.

• Please be aware that there will not be any toilet facilities available for patients except for patients with a disability.

• Please be prepared to wait outside the building if needed. Only 1 patient will be admitted at any time. Please ensure social distancing of 2 meters is adhered to whilst outside the building.

• Do not attend for your flu jab if you are awaiting results of a corona virus test or have had a positive result in the last 7 days or if have any symptoms of corona such as a sore throat, fever, cough, loss of taste or smell. If you have any of these symptoms, you should always self- isolate, and arrange a test for coronavirus. Please be aware that if anyone attends the clinics with these symptoms, we may have to stop the whole clinic for decontamination, and this would mean turning many patients away.

• You must be wearing a face covering when you attend, unless you are exempt. We will not be able to supply face coverings if you attend without one, and you would be asked to rebook.

• Please try to arrive at the surgery in a short sleeve top/shirt where possible. Please do not bring coats, bags or other items into the surgery when you attend. When you see the doctor or nurse, please have your sleeve rolled up ready to receive your flu jab.

• Please go to the back entrance of the surgery (via the car park) on Longfield Avenue and wait at the car park entrance to be called forward, while waiting please sanitise your hands using the hand sanitser on the table.

• When you are called forward you will be asked your name/Date of Birth/Address and your temperature will be taken. If your temperature on this reading is above 37.8 you will not be able to enter the building, and should instead return home to self-isolate and arrange a test for Coronavirus.

• You will then be asked to walk down to our isolation room where our Nurse/HCA will administer your flu vaccination.

• Please be reassured that all staff working at the clinic will be in full personal protective clothing / equipment in line with national guidance.
