PREGNANCY & WHOOP COUGH
You can help protect your unborn baby from getting whooping cough in his or her first weeks of life by having the whooping cough vaccine while you are pregnant – even if you’ve been immunised before or have had whooping cough yourself.
Immunisation is recommended from weeks 16 and 32. Woman may still be immunised after week 32 of pregnancy but this may not offer as high a level of passive protection to the baby. This provides time for the mother’s body to make antibodies and for these to pass across the placenta to the unborn baby.
For more information, speak to your Midwife to visit -

ANTENATAL RUBELLA SCREENING
The offer of antenatal screening for rubella susceptibility will stop for all woman in Scotland booking on of after 1st June 2016. This change has no implications for the offer of other antenatal screening, including HIV, hepatitis B and syphilis in every pregnancy which should continue. This change is principally due to the high uptake of the MMR vaccination. For further information, please speak to your midwife.
