Your Rights:
You will be treated as an individual with dignity, courtesy and respect at all times, irrespective of your ethnic origin, religious belief, sex or sexuality or the nature of your health problems.
You have the right to:
- Consult with a GP within 24 hours for urgent medical problems
- Access a doctor within normal surgery hours
- Have your treatment explained to you
- Have access to an interpreter or signer
- Complain, without discrimination, if there is a problem
- Confidentiality
- Have access to emergency care
- Have a relative or friend with you
- Have access to contraceptive and maternity services
- Have access to your medical records under the Access to Medical Records Act 1990
Your Responsibilities
We would respectfully ask that you:
- Let us know in advance if you intend to cancel an appointment
- Tell your GP, or any hospital you are attending, if you change your name, telephone number or move home
- Switch off mobile phones whilst on the premises
- Treat staff with courtesy and respect. Reception staff may have to ask some personal questions to assist us in providing you with the best service
- Use emergency services responsibly
- Take care with medicines. Don’t use medicines which are out of date – your pharmacist can safely get rid of these for you.
