Minor Ailments - Think "Pharmacy" First
The practice encourages its patients to use the Minor Ailments Scheme at the Pharmacy, where appropriate.
This scheme allows patients aged over 21 years with minor conditions to consult with a local pharmacist who will if appropriate prescribed the recommended medicine.
Please telephone your local pharmacy and ask if they participate in the "Minor Ailments Scheme."

- Cold Sores
- Conjunctivitis
- Constipation
- Cough
- Dental Pain
- Dermatitis
- Diarrhoea
- Earwax
- Fungal Infection
- Hay Fever
- Haemorrhoids (piles)
- Headache
- Head lice
- Indigestion/Heartburn
- Insect bite or sting
- Minor self-limiting pain
- Mouth Ulcers
- Nasal Congestion
- Nappy Rash
- Sore Throat
- Temperature
- Threadworm
- Thrush

Overview of the Minor Ailments Scheme at the Pharmacy
The Pharmacist can prescribe medication to treat your condition. Patients do not need to book an appointment, so patients wait less time compared to waiting to see a GP.
Patients who are exempted from payment for prescriptions will not be asked to pay for the medication.
Patients who pay for their prescriptions treatment will be provided at a subsidised cost.
If the Pharmacist is unable to treat a patient, they usually inform the GP practice that the patient needs to be seen by a GP or Advanced Practitioner.
