GP online consultations are changing. We have a new system called Patient Triage which is easy and simple to use, with less questions.

COVID-19 Restriction Update

Throughout the pandemic we have worked hard to make the surgery as safe as possible for all our patients and staff. We will continue to do so going forward.

From 1st June 2022 it is no longer a requirement for patients and staff to wear face masks when visiting the surgery, it will be personal preference. The exception to this is if you are attending with respiratory symptoms - the clinician may then ask you to wear a mask. Please continue to use the hand sanitiser provided in the surgery. You will still need to speak to a clinician before we can make an appointment for you with a Doctor – we need to limit the footfall in the surgery. We can no longer offer our walk-in clinic so please do not just turn up if you do not have an appointment – we will turn you away.

We do understand that it can be frustrating, but we know that when people come to us, they are sick and vulnerable so we feel it would be wrong to not take these small precautions that can protect people. We also have vulnerable members of staff who are continuing to work despite being at high risk from this disease.

In terms of opening up, as many of you know, we have never been shut and in fact have consulted with much higher numbers of patients than we did pre-COVID (face to face, by phone, by e consult and by video), in addition to supporting the vaccination of 75% of the adult population twice in the last 6 months.

COVID has not gone away. We cannot be complacent. Stoke Surgery has come so far in trying to minimise the impact of COVID for all our patients and staff, and we are sure you understand that we need to keep the surgery as safe as we can for everyone. Please order your medication as usual to prevent additional pressure on our community pharmacies.

Please nominate a pharmacy to collect your prescription to avoid coming to the surgery

Due to the current situation with Coronavirus we will not be having any walk in surgeries until further notice.

If you have a cough or a high temperature DO NOT come to the surgery. Stay at home, self isolate for 7 days and visit www.111.nhs.uk for further advice.

Waterside Primary Care Network

Stoke Surgery is part of the Waterside Primary Care Network. The Network consists of 6 practices, covering over 60,000 patients in the Waterfront area of the City of Plymouth. The aim of the Network is for practices to work together to offer the best possible service to patients in our area of the city.

Stoke Surgery is a modern, fully equipped surgery. There are facilities for disabled patients, including wheelchair access via a ramp at the front entrance.

Stoke Surgery has teamed up with the Wolseley Trust to provide Social Prescribing services to our patients.

Social Prescribing provides advice and support to people to access community activities and services. Healthy Futures is for anyone who needs help with something non-medical that is affecting their health and well being.

Pharmacy First

Is a new scheme which allows people with certain minor ailments and conditions to go straight to their pharmacist to receive a consultation without needing to visit their GP to get a prescription first.

Your Pharmacist is a qualified health care professional who can help with your health problems and will offer you a private space to talk with you about your symptoms.

If it is something more serious, then they will direct you appropriately

Accessible Information Standard

The Accessible Information Standard tells organisations how they should make sure that disabled patients receive information in formats that they can understand and receive appropriate support to help them to communicate.

Making your local health record work better for you

This practice is part of the local shared care record initiative.

It will soon be possible for you to give permission for other health care professionals to view your GP health record when they are providing you with care.
