PATIENT NOTICE - SPOTTING THE SIGNS OF SEPSIS IN CHILDREN

Sepsis in children, is a rare complication of infection but can be treated effectively with antibiotics if caught early enough. There are a number of signs if you know what you are looking for and knowing what these are can be reassuring for parents and may avoid unnecessary A&E attendance.

Warning signs in children with a fever include abnormal drowsiness, rapid breathing, a rash that doesn’t fade when you press it and mottled pale skin, please watch this short 4 minute video, it could be a lifesaver.

They monitor, inspect and regulate services to make sure they meet fundamental standards of quality and safety and publish what is found, including performance ratings to help people choose care.
