PATIENT NOTICES:

Appointment Changes April 2024

From the week commencing Monday the 15th April 2024, we will be making changes to how the appointment system works, this is in line with government guidance and to help patients have better accessibility to appointments and getting the right care they need, when they need it.

You will no longer have to ring at 8am or 12pm to book appointments, you will be sign posted or pre-booked with a clinician within 2 weeks of your non-urgent call. If you require an emergency appointment, there will be slots available on the day for emergencies. If the emergency clinic is full, the reception staff will navigate you to an appropriate service such as NHS 111/A&E Or the Urgent Treatment Centre. If it is not an emergency, you will be offered the next available appointment.

We welcome any feedback regarding the changes and hope that this will alleviate some of the pressure currently on patients and the practice.

Did you know your pharmacist has a range of skills and knowledge that will help treat your minor ailments? Pharmacies are now also able to prescribe treatment for the following conditions;

These conditions are:

  • sinusitis - 12 years and over
  • sore throat - 5 years and over
  • Acute Otitis Media - 1 to 17 years
  • infected insect bites - 1 year and over
  • impetigo - 1 year and over
  • shingles - 18 years and over
  • uncomplicated urinary tract infections in women - 16 to 64

***Please be aware the ages that each pharmacy can treat will very and so will their opening times. If the problem has persisted within a short space of time they may send you back to your GP for further investigations, as they are only here to treat minor ailments.  Please enquire with your local pharmacy directly.

Non-Attendance Changes 2024

Over the last few months, we have noticed a large increase in patient’s not attending their appointments. We have a dedicated line for cancellations where you can leave a message, and this will be cancelled. Please note we will only accept cancellations no less than 1 hour before the appointment, this will go down as a non-attendance. You do not need to wait in the queue to speak to a member of the reception team to cancel your appointment.  We unfortunately do now need to implement a policy, that hopefully will minimise the non-attendance. This is causing a significant impact on the system and starting from the late spring/early summer, we will be sending letters for every consecutive non-attendance. Once you reach 3 within a year, you will then receive a letter advising you that you will be removed from the surgery. We appreciate that emergencies happen, and this cannot always be helped, however keeping us informed then will free the appointment up for someone who is also in desperate need.

Our latest CQC Report can be found using the this link (Report)Copies are also posted within the Surgery.  If you have any questions about the report do not hesitate to contact the Practice Manager.

NOTICE TO ALL REGISTERED PATIENTS

All our registered patients have been allocated a named GP.

Dr V. P. Killy will be your named GP she has the responsibility for the overall care that the surgery provides to you.

All GPs working at the practice have immediate access to all records of previous patient consultations; please continue to book your appointments with any of our available GPs or Practice Nurses.

Please be aware that the reception team are following GP protocol by asking for a brief reason for the appointment you are booking. Not only is this for the Doctor to have a brief understanding of why you require the appointment, but also so we can help to see whether the appointment can be dealt with by the nurse, not only does this save GP appointments for someone that may require them, but also you may be seen sooner.
