Minor Injuries

The Minor Injuries Unit is based at The Western General Hospital. It is open seven days a week from 0800 to 2100. The Western General Minor Injuries Clinic can be contacted on 0131 537 1330, and can be located on Crewe Road South EH4 2XU. No appointment is necessary and is staffed by specialist nurse practitioners to help treat:

    • Lacerations, cuts, grazes, wounds
    • Sprain, strain, muscle or joint injuries
    • Simple broken bones (fractures)
    • Skin complaints - insect/animal/human bites or stings
    • Foreign bodies like splinters
    • Minor scalds and burns
    • Minor head injuries from a low fall
    • Localised allergic reactions and infections (to wounds, for example)
    • Minor eye injuries and infections
    • Emergency contraception
