We are developing our team here at Sunnyside to really suit the changing needs of our patients, as well as work within the pressures currently facing the NHS.  All of us at Sunnyside work closely together as a team to offer the services that everyone needs and we are thrilled to be welcoming John Clay to the Sunnyside Team.  John is a very experienced Paramedic who will be carrying out necessary home visits and seeing some patients in an Acute Illness Clinic.

We know that different patients really need different things from us: -

Some patients struggle with several medical problems and are frail and vulnerable,  these patients really need continuity of care from a doctor who knows them.  we are committed to ensuring that we have a good team of doctors to look after these patients well and all or our patient are allocated to a named GP who carries responsibility for their care.

Other patients who are usually well, occasionally develop an acute illness or concern which they want to get checked out quickly.  Often these symptoms can e managed by a chat with your pharmacist who can treat urine infections, conjunctivitis, impetigo, nappy rash etch.  If not we have expanded our Acute Illness Team who are available everyday to assess you.  they can arrange treatment or refer you onto a GP if they think necessary.

Our excellent Nursing Team will continue to provide monitoring and support form patients with chronic diseases such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease and COPD.  We have expanded our Nursing Team so we now have much quicker availability for appointments for blood tests, ECGs, BP checks etc.

Queries about investigations, sick notes, medications etc can often be sorted over the telephone, saving you from needing to come in for an appointment.  Please explain your query to one of our Reception Team and they will arrange for a doctor or nurse to phone you back if necessary.  Equally, our Reception Team can give you contact details for the District Nurses, Community Matron, Dementia Care Practitioner, Midwife etc or pass a message on.

To help you get the right help, first time,  we are developing the role of our reception team.  We are asking them to talk to you a little more than previously about what issue you need help with so that they can make sure you get the right appointment if you need one or sort out any queries for you.  Our reception,  secretarial team and all the administration staff are bound by the same strict code of confidentiality as the clinical staff in the Practice, so please feel confident to talk to them about your needs.

We really do hope that you will be happy to work with us in this slightly new way which should mean that everyone get the right help and care in a timely manner.
