Dr Baker graduated from The University of Nottingham in 1996 and has been a Partner at Cripps Health Centre since 2001. 

He is interested in sport and exercise medicine, minor surgery, lung disease and acupuncture and has also spent time working with Nottingham’s Alcohol and Drug Team.

He is also involved with St John Ambulance as County Medical Officer for Nottinghamshire.

MB BS, MRCPCH, MRCGP, DFSRH, DRCOG

Dr Manktelow qualified at the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine in 1992, initially training in Anaesthetics and then in Paediatrics. She completed her General Practice training in 1999 and joined the Partnership at Cripps in 2001.

She has a special interest in dermatology.

Dr Walton graduated from Nottingham University in 1998 and completed her GP training in Derby. She has worked as a GP in Nottingham and in Melbourne, Australia before joining Cripps in 2012.

Dr Litchfield graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2003. After a spell working in A&E he then completed his GP training in Nottingham. He joined Cripps Health Centre in 2014.

He enjoys the wide range of conditions seen in general practice, but has an interests in Sports and Exercise Medicine.

Dr Royal joined the practice in 2006 having previously worked in the Division of Primary Care at the University of Nottingham

He is interested in all aspects of health promotion and disease prevention and leads the practice in clinical research.

He also works for the National Institute for Health Research as a Primary Care Clinical Specialty Lead.

MChem (Oxon), BMBS (Nottingham 2016), MRCGP

Dr Hughes qualified from The University of Nottingham in 2016 and completed his GP training in Nottingham.

Dr Hughes previously worked in drug discovery research, having completed a Masters degree in Chemistry at the University of  Oxford in 2004.

He supports Dr Royal with clinical research activities at the practice.

Dr Hughes enjoys the variety of conditions seen in General Practice, and has interests in travel medicine and palliative care.

Dr Ali graduated from Leicester Medical School in 2009 and completed GP training in 2014. She has lived and worked in Nottingham City since 2015.

She enjoys managing the wide variety of health problems seen within general practice but she has a special interest in dermatology and women’s health.

Dr Armitage joined the practice as a salaried GP in 2018. She graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2009.

She initially trained in paediatric medicine and then undertook GP training in Oxford.

She has a special interest in children and young people’s health.

Dr Hamlyn qualified from the University of Edinburgh in 2008.

After a couple of years spent working abroad, in A&E in Australia and as a trainee GP in New Zealand, she completed her GP training in Lincoln in 2015.

Her clinical interests include contraception and sexual health. She is qualified in performing minor surgery, coils and implants. She teaches medical students at the university and is qualified as a GP trainer.

Dr Nanda graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2005.

She trained in Obstetrics and Gynaecology for 4 years, before changing to a career in General Practice.

She completed her GP training in 2014 and joined Cripps Health Centre in 2014.

She is interested in Womens’ Health and contraception.

After qualification Dr Swain spent a year working in Australia before returning to Newcastle to start training in Anaesthesia.

After three years she relocated to her home town of Nottingham and decided to change direction in her career and qualified as a GP in 2005.  

Her special interests are diabetes, lifestyle medicine and wellness coaching.

Dr Clare Veltman qualified as a doctor from Nottingham University then spent a year working in New Zealand.

She returned to Nottingham to train further in medicine, before deciding she would be better suited as a GP.

She worked as a GP in south Derbyshire for 15 years before joining Cripps in 2017.
She has a special interest in womens' health, contraception and sexual health.

Nurse Manager

Sue joined the health centre in 2013 after managing a busy walk in centre for a number of years.

Sue is a non medical prescriber and has worked as both a practice nurse and an autonomous nurse practitioner.

She is responsible for the development and management of the nursing services within the practice

Jakki joined the practice in 2015 and is an advanced nurse practitioner with a non medical prescribing qualification. 

She  spends the majority of her time seeing patients with urgent same day needs.

Sarah joined the team in September 2010, to take up the post as Triage Nurse. In her role Sarah mainly sees same day emergency patients. Prior to working at Cripps Sarah spent several years in the Emergency Department and at Stapleford Walk-in Centre. Sarah has a non-medical prescribing qualification.

Outside of work Sarah enjoys playing netball.  

Caroline joined the practice in 2018 as a nurse practitioner. She has a non-medical prescribing qualification and has worked in various urgent care settings. 

Stuart qualified as a Mental Health Nurse in 2009 and has worked at the practice as a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner since 2019. In 2022 Stuart became a Queens Nurse, one of only 2500 prestigious title holders across England, Wales and Northern Ireland and is also the Practice Deputy Mental Health Lead.

Stuart sees all emergency / urgent same day mental health presentations across the week that cannot wait for the next available routine GP appointment.

Before joining the practice Stuart worked in an extensive range of specialist frontline community teams as a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner delivering urgent mental health assessments after gaining invaluable inpatient experience including as a Clinical Team Leader. This included six years on the police Street Triage Team and also vast experience within adult crisis teams, CAMHS crisis and liaison team, three acute hospital liaison teams and the criminal justice liaison team. Stuart was also a Specialist Advisor to the CQC for eight years attending over eighty assessments nationally during this timeframe.

Also during this time Stuart completed his Masters at the University of Nottingham who he actually also worked for twice in locum roles. Stuart was also an Associate Lecturer at the University of Derby and is now also a Clinical Design Authority Associate at the NHS Nottinghamshire Integrated Care Board.

RGN

Annmarie joined the practice in September 2008. Prior to this she has worked as a Nurse Advisor at the local Walk-in Centre and in the Adult Emergency Department. Her special interests are diabetes and wound care.

Carmel joined the practice in 2016 and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in sexual health and family planning to the practice. She is a member of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare and holds a diploma qualification in Sexual Health. Carmel is qualified to both fit and remove contraceptive implants. 

Danielle completed her nurse training in Glasgow in 2010 and joined Cripps in 2020 after working 10 years in Orthopaedics In Nottingham. This experience has allowed her to bring her surgical wound care knowledge to the practice.  She has a special interest in complex wound management and works closely with the tissue viability teams.  She also enjoys contraception, travel health and cytology.  She is currently training to insert/remove contraceptive implants.   Outside of work Danielle helps to run a cubs group and enjoys live music.

Kathy is an experienced practice nurse who works with us during term time. She performs the full range of practice nurse duties, including cytology, contraceptive services and travel health

Melissa joined the practice in August 2016 having previously worked as an emergency nurse practitioner in a hospital. Melissa has spent most of her career in the emergency department and brings with her very useful triage skills. Melissa has developed her knowledge base by undertaking a number of courses. Here at the practice Melissa will perform the full range of practice nurse duties including travel health, cytology and contraceptive services. 

RGN

Sharon joined the health centre in 2006 as a part time Practice Nurse. She qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1991 and as a Paediatric Nurse in 1997. Prior experience involves nursing surgical and burns patients both adult and children.

Sharon has completed modules in Asthma Management and Contraction and Sexual Health.  She also holds the ARTB/BTS full certificate in performing and Interpreting spirometry.

Special interests include, asthma, travel and cervical screening

Amy is an Occupational Therapist whose role aims to provide brief and time-limited interventions to individuals with any health condition that is limiting their ability to engage full in the occupations that are meaningful to them. 

Our Social Prescriber Link Support Worker offer patients support with issues impacting their health and wellbeing that are non-clinical. This might be managing feelings of isolation, introductions to local groups and activities, how to access talking therapies and barriers to employability among many other things. I can regularly meet you and spend time listening to you, making recommendations to services and providing strategies to build your confidence in making a positive change to your life. Annabel has had over 25 years’ experience of community development – often supporting people with complex needs; those with multiple social issues and / or chronic health conditions. She moved to Nottingham to study at university so has lived experience of the challenges of being an Under and Post-Graduate. Her specialisms are supporting those with mental health issues, lacking confidence and self-identity, relationship and trust issues, belonging to the LGBTQIA+ community and transgender patients.

I am an Occupational Therapist specialising in mental health. I am passionate about activity and believe that a combination of rest, productivity, self-care and social connection is key to well-being. I work with people holistically and spend time understanding a whole person including their values and goals. It might be that a person is struggling with a task or activity that previously they could do, but due to their mental health they are now struggling. I work with that person to help them re-build their confidence and suggest ways to adapt an activity (or the environment) to help them do what’s important to them.

I am also a trained mindfulness teacher. I spend time promoting and teaching the benefits of relaxation and soothing activities. This ensures a healthy and regulated nervous system which helps reduce anxiety and stress.

Chief Operating Officer

Responsible for the overall management of the practice and development of new services.

Daniel is always happy to receive feedback on the services we offer and how they may be developed. 

Practice Manager

Hayley joined the Practice in 2014 and supports Daniel in the overall running of the practice. Hayley’s main role lies within HR and ensures the day-to-day running of the busy administrative team.

Hayley has worked in general practice for many years and enjoys the diversity of her role here at Cripps Health Centre.

She takes an interest in Social Care, obtaining a BA (Hons) Social Work degree in 2010.

Reception Manager

Lyndsay ensures the day-to-day running of reception, including managing the reception team and all the associated administrative duties. Lyndsay supports the wider management team, particularly the Admin Manager and Practice Manager.

IT Services Manager

Anthony joined the practice in 2014. He maintains the practice IT systems. 

Reception staff can often provide advice as to which practitioner may be the best person to consult for a certain medical problem.

The secretaries keep the doctors organised, often following up and facilitating action that the doctor has suggested to the patient in a consultation. They communicate with the hospital through letters and increasingly through electronic means. Our secretaries serve as the main link between the doctors and their patients and others caring for their patients. So, a secretary may phone you or write to you and can often help if you are following up something from a prior contact, such as a referral (but obviously not medical advice to do with the problem). 

The district nurse team cares for patients who need nursing at home and are based at Farndon Green health Centre in Wollaton.

In addition to being a GP, I am the Research Lead for Cripps Health Centre. I work for the National Institute for Health Research as a Primary Care Clinical Specialty Lead and I am an Honorary Assistant Professor, at the School of Medicine in the Division of Primary Care at the University of Nottingham. I am the NIHR CRN East Midlands Primary Care Clinical Speciality Lead and the Chair for Research and Evidence Strategy Group NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire CCG.

I am an experienced Research Nurse previously working for the Research Support Team for CRN East Midlands. I have been working at Cripps since the beginning of the Pandemic, was brought in to help with the delivery of COV002. I have been a member of the Cripps Research Team since June 2021 as a job share with Melissa.

I am employed by Cripps Health Centre and have a split role of Practice Nurse and Research Nurse within the surgery. I have been at Cripps for 6 years and have a background of Emergency Nursing within the A&E department at QMC.

I am employed by Cripps Health Centre as a Research administrator. My background is in Microbiology and public health. I enjoy the variety of Research studies here at Cripps.
