Covid-19 - updated 7 January 2020

As we experience high demand through the winter we would like to remind patients how they can access appointments with the doctor. All doctor appointments are by telephone first, if you need to be seen the doctor will arrange this. For routine appointments with the GP please book online or call the surgery during opening hours.  If you have an urgent matter if possible please call before 10am and you will receive a call back from the duty doctor.  By calling before 10am it allows the doctors to manage their workload and for our team to process any medication necessary on the same day.  Thank you.

Covid-19 vaccinations - if you are a genuine healthcare frontline worker please contact the surgery and provide evidence of your employment in order to book your vaccination.

Covid-19 vaccinations - it is unlikely that we will be able to provide these vaccines in our own surgery initially and we are working closely with the other surgeries in our Primary Care Network in order to make these vaccines accessible to those most in need as soon as possible. We ask that patients refrain from ringing the practice with enquiries about this vaccine, please be patient and wait for us to contact you which we will do as soon as the vaccine is made available for your cohort. How you can help with vaccine research.

The NHS Covid-19 Vaccine Research Registry is part of the UK Government’s UK Vaccine Taskforce. 

The Vaccine Research Registry aims to enrol over half a million people to take part in vaccine trials over the coming months. Researchers are looking for people from all backgrounds, ages (aged 18 and over) and all parts of the UK, including both people with or without existing health conditions, to take part in vaccine studies.

 By registering  users are not signing up to take part in a specific trial or study; researchers working on vaccine studies supported by the NIHR will be able to search for volunteers who have signed up to the service.

If you need a medical certificate due to self-isolation, please do not call the surgery. Please visit https://111.nhs.uk/isolation-note

If you have a new persistent cough and/or fever and/or loss or change in taste or smell, your should self-isolate for 10 days.  Do not call 111 unless your symptoms worsen and you need medical help. 

DO NOT ENTER THE SURGERY UNLESS YOU HAVE BEEN SPECIFICALLY ASKED TO DO SO BY A CLINICIAN. PLEASE WEAR YOUR OWN FACE MASK OR COVERING IN ORDER TO HELP US PRESERVE OUR PPE STOCK FOR CLINICIANS.

PLEASE COLLECT PRESCRIPTIONS FROM OUR DISPENSARY WINDOW.  PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE DISPENSARY TO ASK IF YOUR REPEAT PRESCRIPTION IS READY, PLEASE WAIT 3 WORKING DAYS BEFORE COLLECTING.  IF THERE IS A SUPPLY PROBLEM WE WILL CONTACT YOU.

IF YOU ARE SELF-ISOLATING, PLEASE ASK A FRIEND OR NEIGHBOUR TO COLLECT YOUR PRESCRIPTION ON YOUR BEHALF AND DROP IT ON YOUR DOORSTEP.  THEY MUST MAINTAIN A DISTANCE OF AT LEAST 2 METRES FROM YOU. 

From 7th January 2021 - for shielding patients, if family or friends are unable to collect medication on your behalf then please call the dispensary who will arrange delivery.

Everyone is being reminded to follow Public Health England advice to:

• Always carry tissues with you and use them to catch your cough or sneeze. Then bin the tissue, and wash your hands, or use a sanitiser gel.

• Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after using public transport. Use a sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available.

• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.

• Avoid close contact with people who are unwell.

BEWARE OF SCAMMERS

 There is heightened coverage around the recent Coronavirus outbreak around the world, which is now severely impacting on the UK and the NHS. 

 Unfortunately fraudsters are targeting these circumstances to take advantage of public fear and concern

 We have been made aware that our patients are receiving phone calls, texts and letters from fraudsters. They will try and obtain your personal details and in particular your NHS number.

 Scammers are sophisticated, opportunistic and will try many ways to get the information they want. They often target the vulnerable.

 If you are suspicious, do not give any details over the phone, hang up and then ring your GP Practice to confirm.

COVID-19 (CORONAVIRUS)

In order to maintain social distancing from other patients using the main entrance to the building, we will continue to hand out medications via the dispensary window. Thank you for your patience.

7th Jan 2021 - for shielding patients, if you do not have friends or family who are able to collect your medication on your behalf, please call and speak to our dispensary team who will assist in the delivery of your medication.

Dispensary opening times

Monday to Friday: 8:00 - 18:30

Preferred Prescription Collection Times:  8:30 - 12:00 and 14:00 - 18:00

Repeat Prescriptions

Please allow at least 72 hours notice (excluding weekends) when asking for a repeat prescription. If you order online over a weekend the surgery will recieve your request on Monday and your prescription should be ready for collection on THURSDAY. You can request a repeat prescription Online, in person or by dropping your repeat slip in the post box. Telephone requests are accepted only from the housebound or terminally ill.  We are discouraging patients from telephoning any repeat requests due to the risk of misunderstandings or errors occurring. Please note that our surgery has a policy of prescribing 28 days of medication (with the exception of some HRT and Contraceptive medicines). This is in line with best practice guidelines which balance patient convenience, drug wastage and patient safety.

How to obtain medicines urgently when we are closed

Please visit your nearest pharmacy with evidence of your current medication. There may be a charge for this service.


Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
