IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT PRESCRIPTION CHANGES

Electronic Prescribing Phase 4
There has been a recent change and update to how we issue, print and prepare your prescriptions. Please see below for how these changes may affect you as a patient.

Dispensing Patients
The above changes do not affect patients who normally collect their actual medication from the dispensary.

Patients who already have a nominated pharmacy (Chemist)
Most patients now have their prescription signed electronically by the practice and sent to their nominated pharmacy automatically. For this group of patients there is a nominal change which is that you can now go to any pharmacy (Chemist) to obtain your prescription. You will need to know your NHS Number to be able to do this and the surgery can help you with this information. Once presented at the pharmacy they will be able to retrieve your prescription from the NHS spine using your NHS Number as a unique identifier.

Patients who do not have a nominated pharmacy (Chemist)
For those patients that do not have a nominated pharmacy you will not be issued with a printed prescription, you will be issued with a printed prescription token which is printed on green prescription paper and looks similar to a prescription. Your actual prescription will be sent electronically to the NHS Spine and a pharmacy of your choice will then retrieve this when you go to collect your prescription using the unique bar code printed on the Prescription Token..Your prescription token can be taken to any pharmacy.

If you lose or misplace your prescription token you can still obtain your prescription by quoting your NHS Number. Please contact the surgery to obtain this.

Please note there is no change to how you order your medication.
