We are asking patients to order their repeat prescriptions online using NHS app instead of phoning the surgery.
This helps us to help you by freeing up our time and phone lines. It means we can spend less time on the telephone and more time helping you with more immediate concerns.
Using Patient access, you can order repeat prescriptions so they are ready to pick up from your chosen chemist, saving you time. You can use Patient Access safely and securely online or download the app to your smart phone.
Why use patient access?
It makes ordering your repeat prescriptions simpler and easier:
- There’s no waiting on the phone to get through to the surgery.
- You can organise and keep track of your repeat prescriptions more easily.
- You can check orders and correct mistakes easily.
Patient Access also lets you:
- See parts of your medical record securely online.
- See your Covid-19 vaccinations.
- Find out about local health services
- Look up useful health information.
Registering for patient access
- Register with NHS app following this link.
- Then follow the instructions and fill in the online forms.
- You’ll need to give your email address and telephone number.
- When asked, link to Cornishway Group Practice.
- Via your chemist-your pharmacy will accept your request (if they have a copy of your repeat prescription) either in person or over the telephone (or the internet in the case of Pharmacy2U). The pharmacy will then request your prescription from the surgery and issue the medications depending on the method arranged with you.
Medications that are not present, requested too early or have been altered on the repeat prescription cannot be issued by the reception staff and must be reviewed by a GP. This may cause some delay to the issue of the prescription.
Please allow 2 working days before coming to pick up your prescription (excludes weekends and bank holidays)
All repeat medications require a minimum of an annual review and the Practice uses birthdays as the reminder date on the prescription.
Chronic conditions such as high blood pressure, thyroid conditions, diabetes, epilepsy, asthma and COPD, heart disease and circulatory problems (such as peripheral vascular disease or stroke) are managed by the Practice nursing team initially, please arrange an appointment via reception stating the condition as appointment times vary depending on this. Patients with diabetes and high blood pressure are invited twice a year by the Practice for their reviews.
