Repeat Prescriptions

Prescriptions are ready for collection in 48 hours (2 working days) in the afternoon. Methods of ordering are: 

• Dropping your request into the prescription postbox on the reception counter or posting to the surgery
• Requesting online - To register for online access, please see reception with photo ID

Electronic Prescribing Service (EPS)

Save yourself time!  Rather than having to collect your prescription from the surgery to take to the chemist, you can nominate your preferred Pharmacy for electronic prescribing. This means when you order your prescription, it will transmit electronically to your named Pharmacy and you can collect your medication direct from the Pharmacy or arrange them to deliver it to you.

Telephone requests - Due to NHS England guidelines, we cannot take repeat prescription orders over the telephone.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to have a full review of their medication once a year. These are now done by a Pharmacist who works from the Practice.  Notification of your due date should appear on your repeat prescription slip.  

Please ensure that you book an appointment with the Pharmacist at the Practice to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.  

Prescribing or using medication outside the UK

Any prescriptions issued by the Practice are done so within current guidance and regulations for the use of medications within the UK.

We are unable to provide advice regarding the use of any medication, prescribed or otherwise, outside of the UK.  It is the individual travellers' responsibility to ensure anything transported across borders is done so within the laws of the country(ies) visited.

We recommend travellers check the Foreign Office website travel advice pages for destination countries or the TravelHealthPro website set up by the Department of Health.

The FCO recommends contacting the Embassy, High Commission or Consulate in the UK for the country you are travelling to for advice on the legal status of specific medications.   The gov.uk website has a full list of foreign embassies in the UK.

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines.  Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
