Community Nurses

NHS Ayrshire & Arran have aligned a Community Nursing Team to our Practice. The District Nursing Team can provide care and treatment to our housebound population. They can be contacted on the number below.  Please note as they are based out in the community that you may need to leave a message on their answer service.  This is checked at several intervals throughout the day.

Community Midwives

The Community Midwives will help to look after you during pregnancy and at home after the delivery. They can give advice and help on all aspects of antenatal and postnatal care.

Health Visitors

A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing.

Community Dietician

Anne Carnochan

Anne is a Community Dietician who can offer advice on how to make informed and practical choices about food and nutrition and help diagnose and treat dietary and nutritional problems. A referral to the dietician can be made via the GP.

Advanced Practice Physiotherapist

Brian Scarisbrick

Brian is an Advanced Practitioner Physiotherapist who holds face to face clinics in the Practice. If you have a musculoskeletal complaint, for example a painful shoulder or back, you can book an appointment direct with Brian, no need to be referred. He can order x-rays and give guidance regarding medication as well as providing advice and exercises to help you recover from the condition.  Alternatively, you may find some helpful advice on the NHS Ayrshire and Arran Musculoskeletal (MSK).

Community Link Worker

Vicki Pepworth

Community Link Practitioners are non-clinical social prescribers who provide support for issues that go beyond the scope of medical treatment.

If you feel you have social stressors that affect your health and wellbeing such as money worries, debt, unemployment, social isolation, alcohol or drug misuse for example then ask our reception staff to make an appointment with Vicki who will take the time to discuss you situation and offer a friendly, non-judgemental place where she can work with you to overcome barriers and create a more positive lifestyle. Vicki has good working relationships with third sector charities in your area and direct links to health services where she will be happy to make these links for you. Additionally, if you would like some information or general direction to access groups or activities in your area then please get in touch.

Practice Pharmacists & Technicians

Lorraine McCallum & Raymond Lee - Pharmacists  Laura Lang - Pharmacy Technician 

Lorraine and Raymond are Community Pharmacists working with the Practice. Clinical Pharmacists in GP surgeries will resolve day-to-day medicine issues and consult with and treat patients directly.  This includes providing help to manage long-term conditions, advising those taking multiple medicines (polypharmacy) and delivering clinical advice about treatments. They will carry out patient medication reviews for painkillers and anti-depressant medications.  They also assist the practice in prescribing project work. Laura is a pharmacy technician who supports the pharmacists and the practice in project work. 

Mental Health Team

Paul Hannigan & Lorraine Wilson

Mental Health Practitioners are registered mental health nurses who provide assessment and support within General Practices.  

If you are struggling with low mood, anxiety, stress, grief, alcohol or drug misuse or have any other mental health concern which is negatively impacting on your wellbeing, then please make an appointment to see our Mental Health Practitioner team who can provide a safe and confidential place to discuss your issues and can assist you in developing a plan to improve your wellbeing. They can help you with a range of mental health interventions and refer you to other organisations to improve your mental health if required.  

Occupational Therapy 

Gavin McPhail 

Occupational Therapist Gavin are available to provide short term support for people aged 16years+ and are experiencing difficulty with physical and/or mental health.   Through adopting a practical approach you will work in collaboration towards enabling independence in completing your identified goals, which will be agreed at your initial assessment.  Appointments can be arranged via telephone, video or face-face within the Practice.

Social Work

Under the Health and Social Care Partnership, the Practice now has an aligned Social Work team. Should you require Social Work input, you can contact them direct, or speak with a member of our clinical team.
