Temporary Registration

If you are ill while away from home or if you are not registered with a doctor but need to see one you can receive emergency treatment and you will need to register as a temporary patient. You must be staying at an address within the area that Hillsborough Medical Practice covers and not be registered at a nearby practice which you could travel too.

You can be registered as a temporary patient for a maximum of three months. This will allow you to access treatment while staying at your temporary address and still remain a patient of your permanent GP. Any details from your visits to us will be returned to your normal GP.

To register as a temporary patient simply contact the local practice you wish to use. Practices do not have to accept you as a temporary patient although they do have an obligation to offer emergency treatment. You cannot register as a temporary patient at a practice in the town or area where you are already registered.

Please contact reception to see if you are eligible to register as a temporary patient with our practice. You will need provide some documentation with your application which may include your passport, photographic ID or a visa if applicable.
