Temporary Registration
This page explains how to get care if you’re away from home or not registered with a GP.
๐ Immediate help (up to 14 days)
If you become unwell while away from home, a local GP practice can treat you for urgent problems for up to 14 days. This is called immediately necessary care.
If you need care for longer than 14 days, please register as a temporary patient (see below).
๐ Temporary patient (24 hours to 3 months)
You can register as a temporary patient if you are staying in our area for more than 24 hours and less than 3 months. You will stay registered with your usual GP at home.
โน๏ธ Good to know
- You do not need photo ID or proof of address to register, but it can help us find your records.
- Practices must provide urgent care to anyone. For non-urgent care, a practice may not be able to accept you if they’re full or you live outside the area.
- If you’re unsure what you need, call Reception and we’ll advise you.
