When We Are Closedclosed

When the surgery is closed (after 18:30 and at weekends) you need to be call the Out of Hours service on 111 who will tell you if they feel that you need to go to hospital (A&E).

The service is provided by Urgent Care Services. Initially, a qualified nurse at NHS Direct will offer advice and information. If necessary, your call will be passed to Local Care Direct.

The doctor on duty will ring to offer further advice, or if necessary to arrange an appointment based at a treatment centre.

Urgent care services are not for life threatening problems or emergencies. If you have an emergency, always call 999.

NHS 111

In the case of urgent need when the practice is closed you can call 111  to speak to a triage nurse. Your needs will be assessed and advice offered or arrangements made for you to see a doctor.

Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

Call 999 in an emergency. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
