Appointments

We have a system of “telephone first consultations”. Your initial appointment with the doctor will be over the phone. The doctor will then invite you for a face to face appointment if necessary. This allows us to arrange preliminary investigations (such as blood tests and ECGS) which reduces the total number of times you need to visit the surgery.

Book by phone

  • Ring reception on 029 2075 7025 to book an appointment.
  • Please make a separate appointment for each person who needs to be seen.
  • If you need to see the doctor about more than one problem, then please ask the receptionist to book you a double appointment.
  • It helps us if you tell the receptionist the nature of your problem so we can make sure you are given an appropriate appointment (for example, some examinations and treatments can only be done by certain doctors)

Urgent appointments

  • There are a limited number of appointments set aside each day for truly urgent problems.
  • Please remember you may not be able to see your usual doctor.
  • Your appointment might be at the Urgent Primary Care Centre (UPCC) held at Whitchurch Road Surgery rather than at Llanishen Court Surgery. When you speak to our receptionist they will let you know where your appointment is.

Nurse appointments

  • We may ask you to see the nurse for follow up of certain conditions, such as diabetes, asthma, COPD and high blood pressure.
  • Please also see the nurse for dressings, immunisations, cervical smear tests, vitamin B12 injections, routine contraception check-ups, general health advice etc.

New Urgent Primary Care Centre (UPCC)

  • Your appointment might be held at the new Urgent Primary Care Centre in Whitchurch Road Surgery.
  • This is a new service to help reduce pressure on GP surgeries by providing urgent same day appointments for certain conditions.
  • We will let you know the location of your appointment at the time of booking.

Book Online

  • Use the eConsult service to contact us without having to ring reception.
  • You can ask about non-urgent medical problems and administrative requests.
  • We will respond to you by email as soon as possible.
  • eConsult cannot be used for urgent problems or face to face appointments.
  • Click here to send us an eConsult.

Cancellations

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please tell us as soon as possible so we can give the slot to someone else.
