Can you treat yourself?

Before you call us, please check the self-help guides at NHS Inform. They have clinical advice written and approved by the clinical team at NHS24.

Book an appointment

All GP appointments are booked on the day - please call after 8.30am.

The reception staff will ask you the reason for your call so that they can direct you to the right person. This may be a pharmacist, a telephone call with a GP or a face to face appointment with a specialist in the practice e.g. physiotherapy, mental health nurse or blood test.

Your appointment may be over the phone - we will phone you at your appointment time so please make sure we have your correct number and do not use a system that blocks 'withheld numbers'. We will attempt to call you twice - if you miss both calls you will need to book another appointment. Please let the receptionist know when would be a good time to call.  For confidentiality reasons we do not leave our telephone number and we will only leave a message on a personally named answering service.

We may ask you to send a photograph to help the GP. Please email this to loth.dmpphotos@nhs.scot
(The practice cannot guarantee that if you send a photograph from your email account that it will be secure, and there is no guarantee the email will be received by the practice. If you do not wish to send a photograph via email the doctor will discuss alternative options.)

We are a group practice and you may see any of the doctors. You can ask to see a particular doctor but may have to wait longer.

Appointments are normally 10 minutes. If you think you will need longer please speak to reception staff. Please make a separate appointment for each member of your family.

We are a training practice involved in training qualified doctors to become GPs. Occasionally consultations may be recorded for training purposes. This will only be done with your consent.

Treatment Room Services offer appointments for blood tests, dressings, minor injuries, Vitamin B injections.  To make an appointment with the Treatment Room please phone the Community Desk on 0131 537 9945.

If you need an interpreter please let reception know when booking.

Running late or need to cancel?

Please let us know as soon as possible so we can give your appointment to someone else.
