Patient Access is a service provided by EMIS (the clinical system that The Village Surgery uses) that allows you to access your practice online. Patient Access includes you to be able to utilise the following features:

  • Checking, booking and cancelling appointments.
  • Checking your medication and ordering repeat medication.

  1. What The Neville Family Medical Centre needs from you:

Once you have signed up to the website, you will have access to certain services, but not all. In order to be able to access all of the services, you MUST provide us with:

  • Photo ID
  • Two forms of proof of address

For children aged 13 and under, the parents may administrate this on the childs behalf.

  1. What has changed with regards to the service that The Neville Family Medical Centre offers?

The services we offer are still the same as before, the main difference for you is that you have access to your clinical information including your allergies, and a summary of the repeat medication that has been issued.

With regards to the appointments that are bookable online, these are currently only available for the GP, not the Nurse or Healthcare Assistant.

There are no changes to when the appointments become available – the appointments are still only able to be booked at 0830am on the morning of the required appointment.

  1. Ordering Prescriptions online – why change a system that works already?

One of the most frequent issues that we, (and most other GP surgeries!), have regarding patients ordering medication, is why they can’t have some medication that the GP has given to them before.

There are two different types of Medication – Repeat (where a patient can request again without seeing a GP), and also Acute. The Acute medications are intended for “one off” or short term solutions for an acute course of treatment.

Is there an exception to being able to order an Acute medication after the first issue? Yes – if the GP has issued a medication as a trial. In this case, they would have informed you in consultation to contact the surgery if you feel the medication is beneficial, and they will change it to a repeat. If not, an alternative would have to be issued.

  1. What if I have more questions about this service?

If you have any more questions about this you can do one of the two following things:

  • Answers to Frequently asked questions about the service can be found here: FAQ's
  • If you cannot find answers to the questions you have from the above, please do not hesitate to contact the surgery on 0161 721 4865 and ask the Managing Partner – Mike Neville – and he will do his best to answer the questions for you. If he doesn’t know the answer, he will find out for you!
