WHY DO WE CHARGE FOR SOME SERVICES?
The NHS provides most Healthcare to most people free of charge but there are exceptions. It is important to understand that Doctors are not employed by the NHS, that they are self-employed, and that they have to cover costs (staff, premises, heating, lighting etc) in the same way as any other small business.
The NHS pays the Doctors for specific NHS work but not for the non NHS work and the fees help to cover these costs. Time spent completing forms, going through records and preparing reports takes time. Doctors have a heavy workload and paperwork takes up an ever increasing amount of time. Giving inaccurate information on a report can have serious consequences and as such the Doctor must spend valuable time going through a patients record to complete even the most simplest of forms.
We have prepared this list of charges so that you can decide whether to proceed beforehand:
TRAVEL/OCCUPATIONAL VACCINATIONS:
