Travel Vaccinations and Advice

Please book a practice nurse appointment for travel vaccines and malaria tablets.

This applies mainly to people planning a trip outside of Western Europe, the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

The nurses can organise malaria tablets and can normally give all the injections that may be needed (see below for yellow fever).

In most cases, seeing the nurse 6-8 weeks before you travel will allow enough time, but consult us earlier if your trip is complicated or exotic.

MASTA is a commercial travel clinic service that can be useful for exotic and complicated trips.

Yellow fever - This vaccine is rarely required, but we do not provide it at the surgery. If you need yellow fever vaccine, we can tell you where the local vaccination centres are. Alternatively, you can look up the information at the National Travel Health Network's web site.

It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 to 8 weeks before you travel

Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
