Ratby Patient Participation Group (PPG)
Ratby Patient Participation Group (PPG) was set up in 2013 to represent patients interests to Ratby Surgery. We work with the practice to help in the development of services for all the patients registered with the practice.
We also work with the local federation of GP practices in Hinckley and Bosworth District and engage with local health and social groups, like the Ratby Listening Service, local luncheon groups and young families groups within Ratby, Kirby Muxloe and the surrounding area.
Our aims
The aims of Ratby PPG are to:
-promote and enhance co-operation between the practice and its patients
-influence the planning, provision and delivery of local health services, representing the patient view
-Provide a useful contribution to the improvement of existing services and help the practice to develop new services to meet their patient's needs.

Ratby PPG are looking to recruit a range of patients who are interested in helping us achieve our aims.

Living with dementia
Did you know??
There are currently 850,000 people living with dementia in the UK. 42,325 of these have early onset dementia. The number of people with dementia is forecast to increase to 1,142,677 by 2025 – an increase of 40%.
There are currently 13,372 people living with dementia across Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland. This number is set to increase to 16,969 by 2025. 269 of these people have early onset dementia.
It is estimated that 1 in 3 people in the UK will care for someone with dementia in their lifetime
It is estimated that there are 105,000 carers across Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland
1 in 3 people who die over the age of 65 years have dementia. Dementia now accounts for 11.6% of all recorded deaths in the UK.
1 in every 14 of the population over 65 years has dementia
In the UK 61% of people with dementia are female and 39% are male. There are a higher proportion of women with dementia as women tend to live longer, however, this does reverse when considering the data for people with early-onset dementia.
