Cervical Screening

All eligible women 25-64 years of age will be sent information for cervical screening. This is a simple procedure carried out by the nurse in clinic. This enables early detection of changes that can prevent more serious conditions occurring.

Sexual Health

It is important women use extra precautions (condoms) to avoid sexually transmitted infections. Infections can be passed from one person to another through unprotected intercourse or close contact with the genital area.

Some women may experience symptoms which may include pain when passing urine or pain during sexual intercourse, an unusual discharge, a rash or painful sores around the genital area.

It is important to note some STI’s have no symptoms. Most STI’s are easy to treat so if you have any worries you can make an appointment with the nurse or doctor and attend for a check-up.

The Locala clinic is also a good place to access for full screening of all sexually transmitted infections. They are also able to provide you with treatment. Smear tests and contraception are also available at the clinic. Visit https://www.locala.org.uk/ for more information.
