Our nurses are trained in all aspects of nursing. The Nurse Practitioner is also qualified to prescribe certain medications. New Way of Working
The Nurse Practitioner can prescribe medication but if they feel a referral to one of our doctors is necessary, she will arrange that for you. You should always go home feeling confident you have been treated in the best possible way.
To help us decide which member of the team is the most appropriate person for you to see, the reception staff will automatically ask you whether the problem is a new one or an ongoing one. They do not need to know more than that, so please do not feel they are being “nosey”.
If your problem is a new one, you will be offered an appointment with the Nurse Practitioner.
If however, you know the doctor has asked you to come to see just him / her, as part of an ongoing course of treatment, please tell the receptionist.
