In addition to general medical consultations we are pleased to be able to provide specialist clinics and services covering the following areas:

Non-NHS Services

Some services provided fall outside the scope of the NHS and therefore attract charges. Examples include the following:

• Medicals for pre-employment, sports and driving requirements (HGV, PSV etc.)

• Insurance claim forms

• Prescriptions for taking medication abroad

• Private medical reports and sick notes

• Vaccination certificates (please note we are unable to provide vaccination certificate or letters for travel, related to Covid-19 diagnosis or immunisations)

Our response times to such requests is 28 days following your payment being received.  We operate a 'cashless' payment system.  Your email address will be 'verified' and you will be sent an electronic invoice stating the appropriate fee and how to pay us for the service.

Complaints 

Kirkview Medical Practice is committed to providing high quality care and treatment to our patients through the delivery of safe, effective and person-centered care. We understand, however, that sometimes things go wrong. If you are dissatisfied please tell us and we will do our best to put things right. If we cannot resolve matters in the way you want, we will explain why it's not possible to do as you suggest. 

GP Practices are independent of the NHS in Scotland, and are contracted to provide services on behalf of NHS Boards. This means we are responsible for running the business affairs of our own practice which includes responding to patient feedback - including concerns and complaints. 

The Complaint Handling Procedure for the NHS, based on best practice, recognises the value of you making direct contact with your GP, to assist with early and quick resolution of issues. Only in exceptional circumstances, where you feel unable to make direct contact with your GP, will NHS Lanarkshire become involved.

We also welcome informal feedback and suggestions which are extremely valuable in our aim for continued organisational improvement.

Kirkview Medical Practice operates a two-stage complaints procedure. This is in line with NHS Lanarkshire policy. We will always try to deal with your complaint quickly but if it becomes clear that the matter will need a detailed investigation, we will tell you this and keep you updated on our progress.

Travel Vaccinations 

From Friday 1st April 2022, the way you access travel vaccinations will change. Vaccinations previously delivered at GP practice will be the responsibility of NHS Lanarkshire. 

These vaccines are: 

• Hepatitis A
• Typhoid
• Hepatitis A & Typhoid combined
• Cholera
• Revaxis (Polio/ Diphtheria/ Tetanus)

The consultation and vaccinations will continue to be free of charge for people who live in Lanarkshire, or who are registered with a Lanarkshire GP practice. For information on the travel vaccination service in other health boards, visit www.fitfortravel.nhs.uk 

If you need any of the above vaccines for travel, you can now contact participating community pharmacies directly and staff will advise you of the process. 

Please make sure you know the vaccination requirements of the country you are travelling to, and allow for sufficient time to be vaccinated. You can check this at www.fitfortravel.co.uk before arranging your appointment at a Pharmacy. Please note, this service does not include the Covid-19 vaccine. 

Some travellers may need vaccines and anti-malarials which are not provided free of charge through this NHS service. Pharmacies may provide this additional service, however there will be a charge for it.

Treatment Room

We are fortunate here at the practice to have access to the Treatment Room on the ground floor of the Health Centre. They team offer a wide range of services, including a drop in phlebotomy clinic for blood tests, injection administering, ear syringing services and wound care (including stitch, staple and suture removal following medical procedures). 

The 'Bloods and Go' drop in service is available Monday to Thursday 8.00am-4.30pm and Friday 8.00am-2.00pm- there is no requirement for an appointment and you can attend at any time that suits you between these hours, however please ensure that the doctor has asked you to attend and has requested bloods, it is not a drop in service if you do not have a clinical reason for having bloods done. 

All other services require an appointment, including injections, ear syringing and wound care.
