Telephone 20 444500 (18:30 – 08:00)

These services are for serious illness and urgent problems only.  If you feel your problem is an emergency such a call can be requested when the surgery is closed.  When the operator answers, give her the following information:

  • Name, address and telephone number of patient.
  • Name of patient's doctor.
  • Patient's age and date of birth.
  • Nature of emergency.

The Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is responsible for commissioning Out of Hours Services.

NHS Direct

This telephone help line is staffed by specially trained nurses who can give you immediate information and helpful advice on what to do and what not to do.  It is a 24 hour service and completely confidential.  They also have information on local dentists and pharmacists.

Also available online at http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/

Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
