GP Patient Survey

The 2023 GP Patient survey will be launching in early January. Last year, more than 720,000 people gave feedback on around 6,500 GP practices across England. The survey is a key source of information about general practice in England. It is important that we hear about patients’ experiences, even if they haven’t visited their GP practice recently, or if they have filled in a questionnaire before. You can help promote the survey

Rochdale North Primary Care Network

General practice is here for you for longer as routine appointments become available on evenings and weekends

Our practice is working together with Rochdale Health Alliance to offer patients evening and weekend appointments.

From 1 October the Rochdale North Primary Care Network, groups of General Practices working together to deliver key health and care services, will be increasing access to pre-bookable, routine appointments at evenings and weekends.

Enhanced access appointments may include services like cervical screening, childhood vaccination clinics and health checks.  People will be able to see a member of the general practice team, a GP, nurse or other health professional.

The appointments offered via enhanced access will be held at Whitehall Street, 90 Whitehall St, Rochdale OL12 0ND, and may be with a different clinician than usual.  This clinician will have access to your health records and will be able to treat you in the same way as we would.

You can access these appointments via our reception team.

Abuse is Not In A Day’s Work

Abuse in any form towards our staff and our patients will not be tolerated, accepted, or ignored.

The NHS in Rochdale is taking a zero tolerance approach to abuse and aggression towards our staff and patients.

  1. Dealing with aggression and abuse takes our staff away from caring for our patients.

  2. Our staff have the right to work in a safe environment so that we can help you.

  3. We have the right to refuse treatment and take further action against anyone who threatens the safety of our staff and our patients.

Please share this message and help us focus on caring for you in a safe environment for all. #NotInADaysWork

FLU/Covid-19 Vaccinations  update:

This year, our GP surgery will be offering COVID-19 booster vaccine - 3rd jab from September 2021 at the same time as the Flu vaccine in those eligible for both vaccines. Although we would advocate that all our eligible patients access this opportunity to have their 3rd (booster) COVID-19 vaccination, we are aware that some patients for personal reasons may wish not to have the COVID-19 vaccination even though they are eligible.

Your GP surgery will respect your wishes and if you wish to only have the Flu vaccine then we will be able to offer you this vaccine that we have already secured on your behalf.

The surgery will be in touch as the Flu vaccine deliveries arrive at the surgery.

We will also be offering 1st and 2nd COVID-19 vaccination to everyone age 18 and above who wish to have the vaccine.

How to access your COVID-19 vaccination status

You can access your COVID-19 vaccination status through the free NHS App from 17 May. You can access the app through mobile devices such as a smartphone or by tablet. Proof of your COVID-19 vaccination status will be shown within the NHS App. We recommend that you register with the app before booking international travel.

If you do not have access to a smartphone and know that the country you are travelling to requires COVID-19 vaccination status, you can call the NHS helpline on 119 (from 17 May) and ask for a letter to be posted to you. This must be at least 5 days after you’ve completed your course of the vaccine. We expect the letter to take up to 5 days to reach you.

Do not contact your GP surgery about your COVID-19 vaccination status. GPs cannot provide letters showing your COVID-19 vaccination status.

cencus2

The census is coming. By taking part, you can help to inform decisions on services that shape your community, such as schools, doctors’ surgeries and bike lanes.

It’s important you fill in your census questionnaire because the information you share affects the life of every single person living in England and Wales.

Because these things matter to us all, everyone needs to complete the census. Do not worry, your information is protected by law. That means government officials dealing with payments or services you receive cannot see it.

Census Day is Sunday 21 March. You can fill yours in online as soon as you get your access code in the post. If your household circumstances change on Census Day, you can let The Office for National Statistics (ONS) know.

If you need help, you can visit www.census.gov.uk where there’s a wide range of support services available.

      Corona Virus Information

The NHS in Heywood, Middleton Rochdale and Public Health England (PHE) are extremely well prepared for outbreaks of new infectious diseases. The NHS has put in place measures to ensure the safety of all patients and NHS staff while also ensuring services are available to the public as normal.

The risk to the general public is moderate. If you have arrived back to the UK from mainland China, Thailand, Japan, Republic of Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia or Macau within 14 days, follow the specific advice for returning travellers.

Call 111 now if you've been:

      • to Wuhan or Hubei Province in China in the last 14 days (even if you do not have symptoms)
      • to other parts of China, including Macau and Hong Kong, in the last 14 days and have a cough, high temperature or shortness of breath (even if it's mild)
      • to Thailand, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Republic of Korea or Malaysia in the last 14 days and have a cough, high temperature or shortness of breath (even if it's mild)
      • in close contact with someone with confirmed coronavirus

Do not go to a GP surgery, community pharmacy or hospital. Call 111, stay indoors and avoid close contact with other people.

Further information is available on nhs.uk.

Like the common cold, coronavirus infection usually occurs through close contact with a person with novel coronavirus via cough and sneezes or hand contact. A person can also be infected by touching contaminated surfaces if they do not wash their hands.

The risk of being in close contact with a person with coronavirus or contaminated surfaces is very low at the current time, as members of the public who have visited Wuhan or Hubei province, China are currently in isolation.

Testing of suspected coronavirus cases is carried out in line with strict regulations. This means that suspected cases are kept in isolation, away from public areas of the hospital and returned home also in isolation. Any equipment that come into contact with suspected cases are thoroughly cleaned as appropriate. Specific guidance has also been shared with NHS staff to help safeguard them and others. Patients can be reassured that their safety is a top priority, and are encouraged to attend all appointments as usual.

Everyone is being reminded to follow Public Health England advice to:

      • Always carry tissues with you and use them to catch your cough or sneeze. Then bin the tissue, and wash your hands, or use a sanitiser gel.
      • Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after using public transport. Use a sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available.
      • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
      • Avoid close contact with people who are unwell.

You can find the latest information and advice from Public Health England at Further information is available on nhs.uk
