CORONAVIRUS VACCINATION - 3rd June 2021

WELLINGTON ROAD FAMILY PRACTICE

Vaccinations for patients aged under 40

We are currently inviting patients for a free Pfizer covid vaccination. This is being done by a text message from the practice number (07903 593228.)  This is not a scam.  We have had a high volume of calls from patients wanting to clarify that the text has come from us.  Once you have responded to the text, we will send you a link by text to book your own appointment.  We will not be doing the vaccinations at the practice, but in the church next door to the practice as this offers more space for parking and the waiting time of 15 minutes after the vaccination.

2nd Dose Vaccinations

Appointments will be made for 2nd vaccinations around 8 weeks after your first vaccination.  The allocation of vaccine for second doses will be based on where the first one was delivered so if your vaccination was done at Ashton Gate or any other Mass Vaccination Centre, for example, you will need to attend there again and may already have been given a date for this.  We won't be allocated any additional doses to let you have it here with us unless there are exceptional circumstances.  Please ring the surgery if this is the case.

If you had your first vaccination here at the surgery or at the Church next door, we will contact you to arrange your second appointment.  Please do not phone the surgery yet about this.

You will need to have the same vaccine for your second dose as for your first.  Therefore if you had a Pfizer vaccination the first time, you must have this for your second vaccination.

TREATING STAFF WITH RESPECT

All our staff are doing all we can to meet your health needs, arrange appointments and renew your medication.  Please treat them with respect and courtesy; they should not be subjected to swearing, threats or abusive language.

Treating staff with respect

Have you had Coronavirus?

See the article under Information about donating plasma

Please see the leaflets below:

Information for Older Adults about Covid Vaccine

Why am I having to wait for my Covid vaccination?

Priority order

Please continue to follow the Government's advice about washing hands, covering your face and maintaining a 2 metre distance from everyone.

Waiting for Surgery:  If you are waiting for surgery at either North Bristol Trust or one of the United Hospitals Bristol hospitals, you may find the leaflet in the Information section of the website useful.

**BEWARE**:  Vaccination to protect patients against Coronavirus is free.  We have heard reports of fraudsters targeting patients purporting to arrange a vaccination but then asking for bank details and taking payment.  This is a total fraud - do not give your bank details to anyone.

GP Patient Survey results 2020 - BEST SURGERY IN SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE, BRISTOL AND NORTH SOMERSET

Wellington Road Family Practice was rated as the best practice for the FOURTH consecutive year in South Gloucestershire, Bristol and North Somerset.

Every year a GP Practice patient survey is carried out. The results of the 2020 survey have just been published. Wellington Road Family Practice has scored higher than average in every area surveyed. 98% of Wellington Road Family Practice patients who responded to the survey, described their overall experience of Wellington Road as good; the national average overall experience was 82%. GP Practices are judged on access to your GP service, making an appointment, your experience of your most recent appointment, your health as well as your overall experience. To achieve these excellent results for the fourth year running is outstanding, encouraging and a real boost to morale, especially as we have experienced a difficult year with sickness amongst the team.

Our aim is always to provide high quality, personalised care and we are delighted that the response from our patients yet again is so positive.

A very big THANK YOU on behalf of the whole team to all our patients who took the time to respond to the survey.

CHANGES TO OUR OPEN ACCESS SURGERIES

FROM 5TH NOVEMBER 2020, PLEASE DO NOT COME TO THE SURGERY UNLESS YOU HAVE A PRE-BOOKED APPOINTMENT, IN WHICH CASE PLEASE PRESS THE INTERCOM WHEN YOU ARRIVE.

If you need help please ring 01454 323366 on the morning or afternoon that you wish to be contacted, during our open access hours of 8.30am - 11.00am and 3.00pm - 5.00pm with the exception of Thursday afternoons when we are closed.

A receptionist will need to ask you some questions. They are here to help and support you so please cooperate with the practice staff at all times. If the receptionist is unable to deal with your enquiry themselves, they will add your name to a list for the most appropriate person, either a doctor or a nurse to ring you back.  The doctor or nurse will ring you in order to triage and decide whether you need to be seen or not. If they decide you need to be seen, you will be asked to attend the surgery later that morning or afternoon having been given an appointment time.

Our telephone lines may be busy so please bear with us during this difficult time. Thank you.
