Here are the results of our recent CQC inspection!
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) published an inspection report on the 12th September 2019 The report follows a comprehensive inspection by the CQC in August 2019.
The CQC rates NHS services by classifying them as Outstanding, Good, Requires Improvement or Inadequate against five criteria including whether services are safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.
We are pleased to say that we have been rated as 'Good' in all categories by the CQC.
Are you 17 - 18 years old? Protection from meningitis and septicaemia vaccine information
The MenACWY vaccine is now being offered as a new vaccination programme for all 17 and 18 year olds born between 01 September 1996 and 31 August 1997. This vaccine protects against meningitis (inflammation of the brain) and septicaemia (blood poisioning) caused by meningococcal groups A,C,W and Y.
If you are eligeble to receive this vaccine, please contact the surgery to arrange an appointment with Julie (Practice Nurse).
The vaccine is being offered in response to a rapidly growing increase in cases of a highly aggressive strain of meningococcal disease group W. This disease can cause meningitis and septicaemia that can kill in hours, and those who recover may be left severely disabled. The vaccine also protects against three other meningococcal groups too - A, C and Y.
If you are planning to go to university, please make an appointment as soon as possible before leaving for university. University students are at more risk of meningitis and septicaemia in the first weeks at university when students mix with lots of new people, some of whom may uknowingly carry the meningococcal bacteria, which is usually spread through prolonged close contact.

Named accountable GP for all patients
You may be aware that from the 30th of June 2015 all GP practices are required to provide their patients with a named GP, who will have overall responsibility for the care and support that our practice provides to them. This has been done for all existing patients, and all newly registered patients will be given a named accountable GP on registration. For convenience, your named accountable GP will be the doctor you are registered with.
If you wish to be told the name of your named accountable GP, please ask the receptionists when you are next in the surgery.
Please be aware that you may still see any GP of your choice at the surgery and do not have to see your named accountable GP, nor does this mean that you will only be offered appointments with your named GP. You may also need to see or speak to an alternative GP in urgent situations or if a home visit is required.
All patients registered at Dr Ahmed's Surgery are allocated a named accountable GP.
You can now check your own blood pressure in our waiting room
By using the waiting room blood pressure machine, you will help save nurses' time, and you are likely to be more relaxed taking the reading in your own time, which may give a better result.
Hand the printed slip with your blood pressure reading to the GP receptionists or your GP/nurse.

Lots of patients move and fail to notify us of their new address and/or change of telephone number. Please remember to update your contact details.
Ebola
If you feel ill and have travelled to an Ebola affected country within the last 21 days (particularly Liberia, Sierra Leone or Guinea) please do NOT attend the surgery. Please stay at home and call 111 who will advise on further action. This is to minimise any risk of spreading illness to other people.
